RoadToEV is a mobile platform where electric vehicle (EV) charger owners can list their charging stations for short-term rentals and EV drivers can find and reserve available chargers.
Charger owners can list their charger by creating a profile, specifying charger details (type, speed, access hours), setting rental rates, and managing bookings directly in the app.
Level 2 and Level 3 chargers can be listed, provided they meet Canadian safety and certification standards. Listings should include connector types (such as SAE J1772 or CCS or NACS (Tesla)).
Payments are processed through the app, ensuring secure transactions for both guests and hosts. Hosts can set their own rental prices, and funds are transferred directly to their RoadToEV wallet after rental completion. Hosts can either spend the money on RoadToEV platform or withdraw it.
The app is free to download and use for searching and booking. Fees may apply for completed bookings or for premium host features.
Each listing provides detailed information about the connector types and charging speed to help users confirm compatibility with their EV before booking.
Anyone in North America can download and use the app, whether they are looking to charge their EV or want to rent out their home or business charger.
Users can search for nearby available chargers using the built-in map and filter options such as connector type, speed, or availability in real time.
By sharing existing chargers, the app enhances charging access for EV drivers and reduces the need for new infrastructure, supporting both community and environmental goals.
RoadToEV does not work with utility companies and does not help you pay your electricity bill. Charger owners are solely responsible for maintaining their account in good standing with local electricity providers and payment of all electric bills. Please work with a local electric company and know the electricity usage rules to see if you can make your chargers available for public use, prior to signing up your charger on the RoadToEV app.
RoadToEV application supports payments by Credit Card or Wallet Balance. Whenever someone charges their vehicle using RoadToEV App, we first check to see if the Wallet has a positive balance. If so, payment is deducted from the wallet. If there is no wallet balance, then payment is deducted using the linked credit card on the profile.
RoadToEV believes in full transparency of the fees. RoadToEV app displays the fees that are set by the charging providers. The app will charge that fees based on amount of charge, any idle fees (if applicable) as set by the charging provider and RoadToEV convenience fees ($1.99 + applicable taxes). It is a simple and clean. There is no monthly or annual membership fees to be part of RoadToEV community.
RoadToEV is offering no fees to charging hosts during first 60 days of signup. After the first 60 days, RoadToEV would charge 20% of revenue as the charging fees (+ applicable taxes). There is no monthly or annual fees associated with being a host on the platform. RoadToEV only charges a fees, if hosts make money.
Electricity theft, like other thefts, is a crime. RoadToEV does keep track of users near a charger, so if a theft occurs, we can work with authorities if required. If a vehicle user or owner repeatedly does this, then their account would be banned from the RoadToEV system.
RoadToEV supports all BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicles) that are in the North American marketplace and need to be charged using Level 2/3 chargers. If there is a specific vehicle year/make/model that is not listed for selection, please let us know and we would be glad to add it to our list.
RoadToEV allows charger owners to specify the charging cost (based on their electricity rates). System determines total electricity consumed during charging based on maximum battery charging rate in the vehicle as well as the charger's throughput, and time charged. There is also a nominal fee charged by the RoadToEV for processing the transaction.
RoadToEV app allows the vehicle owner to "cancel charging" within 15 min of starting to charge. So after plugging in the charger, vehicle owners can verify that charging has successfully started. If not, they can click on the "cancel charging" button on the app and they will not be billed.
RoadToEV will limit billing based on total battery capacity of the vehicle. So you should not be billed more than 100% typical capacity of the battery based on your make/model.
Owners of the chargers are encouraged to put a lockbox around the charger, to ensure the charger is not used without authorization. This can be added to the RoadToEV charger settings and code is shown to the vehicle owners when they are very close to the charger physically.
